June 2013 we decided we needed a vacation! We had been wanting to visit Nova Scotia for some time, and had originally wanted to do it on our boat Sea Cup. However, it's a long way to go - and an even longer trip back (being upwind). Finally, we settled on doing it by car - perhaps renting a van and going with another couple to share the driving. But this too had it's drawbacks: the long drive to get there and back, looking for lodging every night, looking for restaurants, looking for the right road - the list goes on.. Finally we stumbled upon a cruise ship out of Boston that would take us to Halifax, Cape Breton Island, Prince Edward Island, and finally on to Quebec. Maren wasn't happy with the short time in each of these ports, and I wasn't happy (after some research) with getting back to Boston from Quebec City - difficult and expensive. We finally decided to do it the easy way - take the cruise ship both ways! This would double our time in each port of call, plus give us 3 days (2 nights aboard ship) in Quebec City.
